Beautiful Soft Skin
Your skin is delicate and should always look its best.
Your Skin is an Organ
When you think of living organs, you probably think of your heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, and others. Unless you recently found out that skin is an organ and you can’t get it out of your head, skin probably wasn’t on that list.
But yes, skin is an organ. Just like your heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver, it’s an organ. Considering its unlikelihood to be an organ, it’s not surprise that it is a unique one.
Your skin is your largest and heaviest organ. No other organ covers your entire body. You might not think of your organ as the difference between life and death. When you heart stops working, so do you. Similarly if your skin stops working, so do you.
Take your skins cell making cycle. New cells are constantly forming at the base of your skin. As new ones are created, they push forward and the old ones flake off. You may not notice it, but you are losing dead skin cells every second.
If you skin wasn’t working, it would stop making new skin cells. The old skin cells would continue to flake off just from your regular day to day tasks. They would also all die because if your skin isn’t working, that means it’s dead.
Here we have your skin flaking away with no new cells to replace it. You can imagine what would happen. You would have no more skin to do its job. As gross as it sounds, you would fall apart.
This just proves that every organ has a part in keeping you alive and running well. You need to take good care of your skin. Even if you feel you aren’t “vain” and don’t care if you start looking old (which I’m sure is not the case) you would still need to take care of it for your health’s sake.
Take care of your whole body. Keep all your organs running in tip top shape, including your skin, and your body will thank you for it!
